Shillington
Shillington is a borough in Berks County with a population of over 5,200 at the time of the 2010 census. It is nestled toward the south west area of Berks County is about the size of just under a square mile. It is best known for being the homestead of Pennsylvania’s fist governor, Thomas Mifflin. The popular American author, John Updike was also raised in Shillington.
Shillington has a huge park conveniently named the Shillington Park which features many pavilions you can rent for events. The Borough also puts on many concerts in the park in the summertime. Shillington Pool is a very popular place to be in the summer as well. Finally, don’t forget about the yearly tradition of Community Days every 4th of July held on the Governor Mifflin School Grounds. This carnival is a very popular destination for Berks County residents and is concluded with a huge fireworks display that is considered one of the best to see.
Although small in size, this borough has plenty of small shops and eateries you will enjoy. Just take a drive down Lancaster Avenue and see the various businesses.
