Reading
Reading is the county seat of Berks County with a population of over 88,000 according to the 2010 US Census. It is the 5th largest city in the state with an area more than 45,000 square miles.
Downtown Reading has lots of small businesses that many travel to the city to shop. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars that Berks County residents love in and around the city. Reading also features the Sovereign Center which is home to the minor league hockey team, the Reading Royals. Don’t forget about First Energy Stadium which hosts the Reading Fightin’ Phils which are a Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies since 1967. This ballpark is one of the of the best and well-known minor league parks due to all the upgrades including decks and even a pool!
Nicknames for Reading include the Pretzel Capital of the World, Baseballtown, Pretzel City, and was once the Outlet Capital as well before most the outlets closed in the city.
